School Begins

First science project of the year - making molecules
We began a new school year last week.  Since the camp is busier during school holidays, we have adopted the Ugandan school calendar which begins each new year at the beginning of February and ends in December before Christmas.  We now have a third grader, a second grader, and a preschooler in the house, and their teacher (a.k.a. Kendra) is busy teaching three grades together in her "one-room" schoolhouse (a.k.a. our home) along with managing a toddler and other aspects of normal life. Life gets a little crazy around here sometimes!

John and Hannah are also taking Luganda lessons two mornings a week at our small Musana school.  The school started last year as a way for our Ugandan staff to be able to give their kids a good education without having to send them to a boarding school.  Our teacher Irene is truly running a one-room schoolhouse as she teaches ten kids in four different grades.  We are so thankful for her and pray that she will continue to have strength, health, wisdom, and patience in teaching all of these young ones!
