We knew we were back in Uganda...

After 20 hours of flying and four days of traveling, we finally arrived back to our home in Uganda.  We had a wonderful welcome party awaiting us and have enjoyed spending time catching up with people and seeing all of the new developments here.  Yesterday we celebrated Thanksgiving with our staff here with a traditional American Thanksgiving meal and lots of sharing and worship.  We are so thankful to be back here in the place God has called us to be!

As we were coming back into the country, we thought of some funny and interesting things that made us feel back at home.  We knew we were back in Uganda when...

  • We passed a motorcycle with a man holding a car windshield on it and had to stop several times for cows in the road
  • We couldn't sleep because the sound of the rain was too loud
  • The sound of birds, insects, and monkeys surrounded us at all hours even inside the house
  • Tea was the main breakfast beverage
  • The bananas were as sweet as candy
  • Voices and drums were the loudest portion of the worship in church
  • The view from our back porch each morning of the last week has been this...

It is so good to be home!
