It is official...Nathan is now 30 years old! His birthday was yesterday, the 21st, but we have done little bits of celebrating throughout the weekend. We butchered a pig and had a pork roast on Friday night in honor of the IY's and Cristen that have been with us, the return of Namukasa from the Institute, and Nathan's birthday. It was quite a feast and a great time together as a staff. Over the weekend, we made sure to have some special foods like ice cream and cheesecake along with some Settlers of Catan. A few of our staff even came over at midnight Sunday night to sing Happy Birthday to Nathan! Finally, we drove to town on Monday, found out we are having a boy in September, went out to eat together, and spent a relaxing evening as a family. All in all, it was a relaxing and enjoyable way to usher in the next decade of his life!
Due to a delay in the arrival of our good friend Ally, we had an extra day in Entebbe today. We spent the morning at the Uganda Wildlife Education Center. The kids absolutely loved all of the animals, although Hannah often couldn't decide if she wanted to touch the animals or scream at them! Their favorites included the crocodiles, the chimpanzees (who were vey active and vocal while we were watching), and the giraffes. Although unexpected, we enjoyed our extra day of rest and time as a family. We are excited to welcome Ally to Uganda tomorrow and share our life with her for a few months this summer.
