John had a great time camping for a week. Most of his time was spent playing with the other staff kids, playing in the dirt, or going on hikes with Nathan and I. He also enjoyed all of the pets that were around. He now says "doggy" and "puppy" and often tells them "no" if they come too close or start to lick him! John was even able to touch a monkey for the first time. The monkey had been adopted as a pet by a Ugandan named Medie who is on staff. It wouldn't surprise me at all if John begins asking for some kind of pet in the near future!
When we returned from the camp, Nathan and I were surprised to find that we had brought several unwanted friends home with us--jiggers! A jigger is a flea that burrows into your skin (typically on your feet) and lays an egg sac under your skin. They are fairly small but that doesn't mean that they don't hurt when you have to cut them out! Nathan had to dig out four from his feet, and I had two. Thankfully, John has not had any even though he spent more time in the dirt than both of us combined!
Overall, we had a great time being at the camp and are looking forward to moving there in a few months!
Hey Jacksons!
ReplyDeleteI sure miss you! It seems so strange not seeing y'all running around the ranch. Sound like you are in an amazing place - I know the Lord will bless many people because you answered the call.
Blessings and know that you are in my prayers,
Sam Moreton
