Our destination in California was with our friends Shawn and Andrea who live near Monterey. John was so excited in anticipation of swimming in the ocean, so he was a little disappointed to find that the weather was a bit on the cool side, at least for swimming. He and Hannah still spent a good amount of time "chasing" the waves and playing in the sand. Our friends took us to several great places around Monterey--the aquarium, a state park, and some great restaurants! The kids loved all of the sites from petting starfish and seeing sharks at the aquarium to being chased by crabs and seeing sea lions at the seaside. It was a very enjoyable and restful few days, especially since we were in the company of our good friends!
